My Skin Care Routine

A lot of people have been asking me about how I take care of my facial skin, so I thought I'd share with you my skin care routine!

*This is not a sponsored post, and is 100% my honest opinions!*

Make up destroys your skin. It really does. But whether or not you wear make up, I think everyone should take care of their skin to keep it not only smooth, but healthy. Everyone has different skin types and so you should always test around multiple products and see what does the best for your skin. What may be a holy grail item for one, may not work so well on you!

I have combination skin, meaning I have relatively dry skin, except for an oily T-zone. I also have very sensitive skin so I can't use anything that are scented or high in chemicals. When it comes to skin care, once I find my perfect product I tend to stick to it for a long time--and for me, this holy grail product has been Fancl skin care products. I've been loyal to Fancl for about 5 years now...shows just how much I love it!

Fancl is well known for their 3-step care, which consists of their cleanser, lotion, and emulsion. However, since I often wear make-up, I add in an extra step with their make up remover. What I love about Fancl is that their products are all preservative-free, and don't contain parabens, sterilizers, petroleum surfactants--all those chemicals that are harmful to your skin. Our make up is bad enough already, so we need to treat our skin with only the best of ingredients during its off-hours.

So, let's get to it! Here's how my daily skin care routine goes:

1. Mild Cleansing Oil

After a day of make up, I use their Mild Cleansing Oil to remove all my make up. I've switched back and forth between Shu Uemura's famous cleansing oil and this one, and to be 100% honest with you, I think they're pretty much on par with each other. So, for those of you who don't want to spend big bucks on a cleansing oil, this is a great alternative! This remover gets off every bit of make up. What I notice about some removers is that it leaves a small trace of residue on your skin...and sleeping with make up on is a huge no-no!

2. Cleansing Powder

After removing my make up, I use the Cleansing Powder to thoroughly cleanse my face. It washes off any remaining dirt and impurities, and helps clean out clogged pores. Not to mention, it's a fun way to cleanse! You put some powder into the sponge-y ball and by adding water, it turns into a gentle foam-how cool is that! The cleanser also preps your skin nicely for maximum absorption of the lotion and emulsion that follows.

3. Lotion

Next, I apply the Moisturizing Lotion. Just like how we need to drink water to prevent dehydration, so does our skin! We need to moisturize it so that it doesn't get dry. Moisturizing is one of the biggest factors for smooth skin! This lotion also helps repair damaged skin from dehydration. Put a small amount on your palms and gently pat your face! Make sure to pat slowly, to let all those good ingredients get absorbed by your skin.

4. Emulsion

Last but not least, I apply the Active Conditioning Emulsion. It provides intense moisturization and supports skin cell regeneration.

By the end of these 4 steps, my skin feels so smooth and hydrated! I honestly cannot go to sleep unless my face is in this condition. I do the full 1-4 steps every night (skip out step 1 on days I don't wear make up) and in the mornings I do steps 2-4.

So there we have it! This is my daily skin care routine that I swear by. I also add in a face mask here and there (I try once a week), so maybe I'll write up a post on my favourite masks next!

If you get the chance to try Fancl products, let me know what you think. And, if you have holy grail products of your own, tell me about it!

Love, Lena
