This year's birthday was quite different for me. Back since first year, I was used to birthdays being a big, rowdy event. Clubbing? A must. But nowadays, I've reached a point in life where I'd much rather stay inside and watch movies than glam up and go out. So this year, I spent my birthday with a few of my close friends. I had a couple lovely dinners and I went to my first painting workshop at Paintlounge. If you guys have never done these painting events, I definitely recommend you try it out! It's such a fun activity, regardless of your artistic skills (trust me, mine is very, very average).
One thing I learned this year is that true friends are hard to come by. Yes, I'd say I have a lot of people I'd consider as friends but a lot of them are the kinds you see when you go out for social events, or those you'd say hi to when you bump into them in the streets. And there's nothing wrong with that. But then there are the few who will be there for you, always. Even if you don't see each other often, when you do meet, it's like you never parted. And those friends who you'll meet up with, just to sit beside each other and stare at your own phones. Those friends who listen to you rant, rant, and rant from the most trivial things to the darkest things. Those friends who you're so comfortable with that you don't need to worry about what they'll think of you. It's those friends that are hard to come by. And graduating from university has really opened my eyes as to who sticks around for you. It's made me realize how much I need to treasure these friendships. And this year, although a lot of my close friends are out of the country, I'm thankful I was able to spend it with the ones here.
And as cliché as it is, it truly is about quality, not quantity.
Love, Lena
On another note, I did a fun little shoot on my birthday! Here's a few of my faves.
